RIVERSIDE
One last home game provided the fuel Friday night for Highland High School’s boys basketball team.
Led by Logan McFarland’s 17 points, the Huskies scored a 59-49 victory over Cedar Valley Christian in the play-in round of the Iowa Class 1A tournament in what will be the last home game of the season for Highland.
“We wanted to win our last home game,” Huskies head coach Bill Zywiec said. “Our goal was to do whatever it took to win our last home game.”
The big reward is this: Highland (3-18) will take on top-ranked North Linn (19-1) in a district quarterfinal at 7 Monday night in Coggon.
Nicolas Oriano added 14 points in Friday’s victory and Louis Horak had 10 rebounds.
