Highland’s first soccer victory of the season was 10 years in the making.
Led by Logan McFarland’s five goals, the Huskies drilled Wapello 11-1 in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference game April 4, scoring its most lopsided win since a 12-0 win over Mediapolis in 2014.
The game ended following Highland’s 11th goal due to Iowa’s mercy rule.
The Huskies scored 10 goals in the first half alone, piling up more goals in 40 minutes than it did all of last season.
McFarland, a junior, scored on five of his six shots and added an assist in his career-best game.
Jared Diaz, another junior, added three goals.
Ayden Havel, a junior, and Presten Smith, a freshman, split time in goal.
Jack Boysen scored Wapello’s only goal on a free kick in the first half.
One of Highland’s scores came on an own goal situation by Wapello.

Columbus 2
The Huskies won their second straight game, defeating Columbus 3-2 on Monday.
Logan McFarlan, Louis Horak and Jose Ramirez each scored for Highland. The Huskies (2-2) scored twice in the second half to win it.
Columbus lost its third straight game.
