Evelyn Hemsted, 83, of Lone Tree, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024, at her home in Lone Tree. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Lone Tree. Funeral services for Evelyn will be held at 11:30 a.m. following the visitation. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Following committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held and the Lone Tree Community Building. Evelyn Baker was born Nov. 7, 1940, in Lone Tree, the daughter of Orvil and Ethel Irene (Rossman) Baker. She was a 1959 graduate of Lone Tree High School. On Oct. 4, 1959, Evelyn was united in marriage to Ronald George Hemsted in Iowa City. She was a cook at the Western Inn, Little B’s, Lone Tree Congregate Meals and retired in 1996 from Walden Place in Iowa City. Evelyn enjoyed raising her children, spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, sewing, watching her husband, Ronald, race his race car, shopping with friends, dancing and listening to music, especially country music and Elvis.

Evelyn will be deeply missed by her children: David (Donna) Hemsted Lone Tree and Karen (Mike Christian) Hemsted of Lone Tree; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren on the way; and sister: Darlene Lenz of Lone Tree.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Ronald; sister: Lorraine (Paul) Grecian; brother-in-law: Clarence Lenz; and uncle: Bob Baker.
