BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
WASHINGTON COUNTY, IOWA
REGULAR MEETING OF TUESDAY, MARCH 19, 2024
At 9:00 am Chair Richard Young called the meeting to order in regular session, Courthouse Chambers. Items on the agenda included: presentation of Local Plan for the East Central Iowa Workforce Development Board; FY25 Law Enforcement Contracts with various Cities located in Washington County; application for renewal of Class C retail Alcohol License–Kalona Golf Club; application for change in ownership related to Kalona Golf Club. Supervisors Jack Seward Jr., Marcus Fedler, Bob Yoder, and Stan Stoops were also present.
All motions were passed unanimously unless noted otherwise.
The Board voted to approve the agenda as published.
East Central Iowa Workforce Development Board Executive Director Liz Rodriguez, who participated by way of telephone, shared with the Board her organization’s Local Plan which serves as a four-year action plan to develop, align, and integrate service delivery strategies and also to support the State’s vision and strategic and operational goals. The Board took no formal action.
The Board voted to approve a law enforcement contract with the City of Ainsworth at an annual cost of $39,433.00 for the period of July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025, and authorize the Chair to sign.
The Board voted to approve a law enforcement contract with the City of Brighton at an annual cost of $50,460.00 for the period of July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025, and authorize the Chair to sign.
The Board voted to approve a law enforcement contract with the City of Crawfordsville at an annual cost of $20,184.00 for the period of July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025, and authorize the Chair to sign.
The Board voted to approve a law enforcement contract with the City of Kalona at an annual cost of $296,568.00 for the period of July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025, and authorize the Chair to sign.
The Board voted to approve a law enforcement contract with the City of Riverside at an annual cost of $258,572.00 for the period of July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025, and authorize the Chair to sign.
The Board voted to approve a law enforcement contract with the City of Wellman at an annual cost of $141,830.00 for the period of July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025, and authorize the Chair to sign.
The Board voted to approve a law enforcement contract with the City of West Chester at an annual cost of $12,541.00 for the period of July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025, and authorize the Chair to sign.
The Board voted to approve the renewal of a Special Class C Retail Alcohol License with Outdoor Services and Sunday Sales for the Kalona Golf Club, 1376 Highway 1 South, Kalona, Iowa, for the period of April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025. Sheriff Jared Schneider expressed no objection to approval of the application.
The Board voted to approve an application for change in ownership submitted by the Kalona Golf Club, 1376 Highway 1 South, Kalona, Iowa, with an eff. date of April 1, 2024.
At 9:30 am the Board voted to adjourn.
