Verton Yoder, 78, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away June 4, 2024. Verton was born Jan. 26, 1946, to Katie and Ray Yoder in Kalona, Iowa.

Verton worked for many years as a mechanic at Kenny’s Marathon, then for the Mishawaka central motor pool and as a bus driver for Penn High School and as an antique dealer until he retired.

Verton met his wife Patricia while attending Ireland Road Grace Brethren Church, and they wed in 1983. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. Verton was also a passionate gardener and bird enthusiast and could often be found outside working in his garden.

Anyone who knew Verton knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for.

Verton was predeceased by his parents, biological father: Ray Yoder; mother: Katie (Schrock) Swartzentruber; stepfather: Eli Swartzentruber; and his brother: Jim Swartzentruber.

He is survived by his wife: Patricia; daughters: Michelle Wasmer, Anita Yoder and Shannan Snodgrass; grandchildren: Zoe Wasmer and Kiel Bartosch; and great-grandchild: Analysia Castillo; sister: Barb Miller; brothers: Joe Swartzentruber and Laben Swartzentruber; and several nieces and nephews.

The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, IN 46545.

Services for Verton will be Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel with a visitation beginning at 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m.

Pastor Davey Troxel will officiate the services with burial to follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, Indiana.
