John Michael Wieland, 64, of Riverside, passed away Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, at his residence. A memorial visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Riverside. Interment will be private. John was born Feb. 15, 1960, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Mary (Lenz) Wieland. He graduated from Highland High School.
John worked as a chef for various places which included Mercy Hospital, the University of Iowa Hospital, the Christian Conference Center and most recently, Legacy.
He enjoyed caring for his ducks and chickens and loved his two dogs, Birdie and Bella, dearly. He also enjoyed cooking for his family and will be remembered as a fun-loving guy.
He will be deeply missed by his mother: Mary Wieland of Lone Tree; sister: Becky Hedden of Rogers, Arkansas; brother: Randy Wieland of Riverside; nieces and nephews: Tracy Hall, Brian Mencl, Jake Wieland and Ronnie Wieland; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and his brother: Rick Wieland.
