Eleven members of the Mid-Prairie FFA chapter traveled to Des Moines for the Iowa FFA Leadership Conference April 19-20. Those attending from Mid-Prairie were Marissa Cline, Bridget Fisher, Rebekah Meader, Annie Morrison, Anna Nafziger, Payton Peck, Gabi Robertson, Colby Rourke, Carmen Sieren, Greta Sieren, and Jacey Sisson.
Two members participated in leadership CDE’s. Bridget Fisher and Anna Nafziger received a bronze for their Secretary’s Book. Gabi Robertson and Greta Sieren took the Greenhand Test about FFA knowledge. Marissa Cline, Annie Morrison, Payton Peck and Jacey Sisson competed in the Ag Sales skills CDE and received a bronze rating. The Ag Biotech team of Bridget Fisher, Colby Rourke and Carmen Sieren received a bronze rating.
The Chapter Display showcasing the chapter’s community service project of collecting pop tabs and making blankets for the Ronald McDonald House put together by Rebekah Meader received a gold rating. Bridget Fisher served on the courtesy corp as a part of her District Officer duties. Marissa Cline also assisted with the courtesy corp.
Three members of the Mid-Prairie FFA chapter received their Iowa FFA Degrees. This the highest degree the state can award. The members receiving their degrees were: Bridget Fisher, Anna Nafziger and Carmen Sieren.
Colby Rourke and Rebekah Meader represented the Mid-Prairie FFA chapter by serving as the chapter’s delegates and voting for the new state officer team. Rourke served as a member of the state Program of Activities committee.
Additional time was spent at the career show. The sessions the Mid-Prairie members attended highlighted the achievements of Iowa FFA members throughout the past year and they had a chance to listen to inspirational speakers and presentations.
