Marcia Diane Steckly, 75, of Wellman, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024, at Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg. Her life will be celebrated Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. The service will be available via Livestream on the Beatty Peterseim website, Facebook, and YouTube pages. A private family burial will be held before the service. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 4 – 8 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. In place of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Essence of Life Hospice and Hope For All.

Marcia (Kesselring) Steckly was born March 26, 1949, the daughter of Carroll J and Beatrice M. (Vesely) Kesselring. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1967 and studied business at Kirkwood Community College. On June 29, 1968, she was united in marriage to Don Steckly at the 1st Mennonite Church in Iowa City. Marcia was the secretary at Williamsburg High School for 18 years and then worked as the office manager at Four Oaks Family and Children Services for 14 years until retirement. She enjoyed playing cards and her grandchildren were the joy of her life.

Survivors include three children: Mark (Cali) Steckly of Williamsburg, Michael (Mandy) Steckly of Wellman, Megan (Mikey) Mills of Parnell, seven grandchildren: Zachary, Colton, Clayten, Cael, Graydon, Lincoln, and Kora; her brother Gordon Kesselring of Oklahoma; three sisters-in-law: Sarajane Kesselring of Iowa City, Pat Steckly and Donna Chupp of Arizona, one brother-in-law: Rodney (Angie) Steckly of Kalona, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding Marcia in death were her parents, her husband Don, infant granddaughter Maelah Mills, one brother Ron Kesselring and four brothers-in-law: Terry and Larry Steckly, George Carter and Sam Chupp, and two sisters-in-law Linda Kesselring and Linda Dana.

The family would like to thank the staff of Essence of Life Hospice, Compass Memorial Hospital Oncology Department, and Highland Ridge Care Center for the compassionate and loving care they gave Marcia.
