1. Call to Order: Sladek called the meeting to order @ 6:30 PM

2. Roll Call: Alex Ogren, Michael Hotz, Jenni Eden, Gordon Viers, Robert Sladek.

3. Approval of Agenda: Viers motioned to approve the agenda, Eden seconded. Motion carried 5-0.

4. Public Comment: Katherine Leibold-24/25 calendar, Jacob Hoyle-24/25 calendar, Christina Magruder-24/25 calendar, Barb Danielson-24/25 calendar, Brent Parizek-24/25 calendar, Trevor Koele-24/25 calendar.

5. Consent Agenda
a. Previous Meeting Minutes: M. Hotz motioned to approve the previous meeting minutes, Eden seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
b. The board reviewed the finance report.
c. Payment of Bills: Viers motioned to approve the payment of bills, Ogren seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
d. Open Enrollment Requests: M. Hotz motioned to approve the open enrollment requests, Eden seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
i. In: Nolan Wageman-7th, Macie Wageman-9th.
e. Personnel Items: Viers motioned to approve the personnel report, Ogren seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
i. New Hires: Jard Kunc-JH Girls Track Coach
ii. Resignations: Corina Shipp- JH Girls Track 23-24, Corina Shipp- Special Education Teacher.

6. Old Business
a. School Calendar
i. 2024-2025: The board gave a brief statement thanking all of the stakeholders for their participation and feedback through the 4 day calendar process.
Eden motioned to approve the 4-day calendar for the 24-25 school year, Viers seconded. Roll call: Eden aye, Sladek nay, Viers aye, M. Hotz nay, Ogren nay. Motion failed 2-3.
Ogren motion to approve an alternative 5-Day calendar option with more built in professional development time and remove Wednesday early outs, M. Hotz seconded. Roll call: Eden-aye, Sladek-aye, Viers-nay, M.Hotz-aye, Ogren-aye. Motion carried 4-1.
ii. 2023-2024: Viers motion to approve the updated 2023-24 district calendar making May 24th the last day for students and May 28th for staff, Eden seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
b. HVAC Update
c. Board Policy: 409.4-414.9 (Second Reading): Viers motioned to approve the second reading of board policies 409.4 through 414.9, M. Hotz seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
d. Policy Primer Vol. 32 #2: Viers motioned to approve the first reading of board policies 401.13, 401.13.R1, 502.7, 605.6, 605.6.R1, 605.8, 605.8.R1, 701.1, 701.2, 701.3, 701.4, 703.1, 703.2, Eden seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
e. Booster Club/matching dollars: Viers motioned to approve matching the $7000 for weight room equipment, Ogren seconded. Motion carried 5-0.

7. New Business
a. Wellness Center as Shelter (Emergency Management): Motion died due to a lack of motion.
b. Out-Of-State Marine Biology Field Trip: M. Hotz motioned to approve the Marine Biology trip, Viers seconded. Motion carried 5-0
c. Board Policy: 503.8 & 503.8.R1 (First Reading): Viers motioned to approve the first reading of board policies 503.8 and 503.8.R1, Eden seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
d. Board Policy: 705.1, 705.1.R1, & 705.1.R2 (First Reading): M. Hotz motioned to approve the first reading of board policies 705.1, 705.1.R1, and 705.1.R2, Viers seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
e. FY2023 Audit: Viers motioned to approve the FY23 Audit, Ogren seconded. Motion carried 5-0.

8. Superintendent’s Report: Supt. Hotz gave feedback from his Capital Day on the Hill, updated state legislation, feedback from the handbook committee meeting, and started to collect quotes for the safety grant projects (PA system). Hotz highlighted how productive the Friday, February 16th teacher inservice day went.

9. Adjourn: Viers motioned to adjourn the Regular Meeting, M. Hotz seconded. Motion carried 5-0

Meeting adjourned @ 7:45 PM.

10. Exempt Session
Negotiating sessions, strategy meetings of public employers or employee organization, mediation and the deliberative process of arbitration. Iowa Code 20.17(3).
