WASHINGTON

In her first meeting June 27, as the new head of the Washington County Health Department, Jenifer Roberts provided an agency update regarding staff training, programs, and meetings, most which she was familiar with as a former department employee. The supervisors acknowledged the new appointment at their July 2 meeting.

Much of last week’s meetings dealt with fiscal year issues, including renewal of a 29E Agreement with the state DIAL for the ongoing food program, a review of the environmental health financials as well as those of public health, and a transfer of signatory authority, HIPPA privacy officer, CMS-855A enrollment, and fiscal 2025 subcontracts signing for LCHD services from the former administrator to Roberts.

In regard to environmental health, there was a report about the issues with wells at the Water’s Edge Subdivision, noting that monitoring is ongoing of the issues that arose about three years ago, as well as approval of an official food establishment warning letter prior to taking action, continued investigation of a sewage backup complaint, acknowledgment of Federal Emergency Preparedness funds and continuing making grant applications.

There was a brief noting about the project to transfer some administrative offices to Orchard Hill, including the Health Department. The building contract was awarded last month to Woodruff Construction of Tiffin.

The final item was the announcement of an Open House for the new administrator set for 1-3 p.m. in the department’s 5th floor conference room of the Federation Bank Building, 110 North Iowa Avenue, Washington.
