Darlene E. Logan, 90, of Kalona, died Monday, April 4, 2022, at Pleasantview in Kalona. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, April 8, 2022, at 2:00 PM at East Union Mennonite Church with Pastor Joel Beachy officiating. The service will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim Facebook Page. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Joetown. The family will greet friends from 3 – 6 PM, Thursday, April 7, 2022, at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for landscaping projects at Pleasantview.

Darlene Elizabeth (Miller) Logan was born November 19, 1931, in Johnson County, Iowa, the daughter of Sam T. and Mary (Bender) Miller. She graduated from Iowa Mennonite School in 1950. Following that she served in Mennonite Volunteer Service at the Mennonite Hour in Harrisonburg, VA. On August 3, 1957, she was united in marriage to Dale Logan at East Union. Darlene was primarily a homemaker but also worked in various jobs, including customer service at Von Maur in Iowa City. She was a member of East Union Mennonite Church where she was active in WMSC. Darlene enjoyed gardening, playing games, quilting, and spending time with her grandkids.  She was part of a Taste of Home group, hosted garden tours and always had an eye for design and beauty.

Survivors include four children: Loren (Cynthia) Logan of West Salem, WI, LaVerne (Mary) Logan of Kalona, Kimberly (Chris) Fankhauser of Eagle, NE, Karla (Kelly) Doerksen of Inman, KS; eleven grandchildren: Andrew, Aaron, Alex (Rachel) Logan, William, Robert, Charlie Fankhauser, Josh, Beth, Jake, Jack (Layci), Jace Doerksen, 3 great-grandchildren: Hudson, Colbie and Maclin Logan, two siblings: Cletus (Dorothy) Miller of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Dolores Miller of Kalona, one brother-in-law Marlan Logan of Kalona, three sisters-in-law: Dorothy Logan (Tillie Yoder) of Kalona, Margaret (Harold) Chapman of Kalona, Mary Helen (Neslon) Miller of Kalona and a number of nieces and nephews.

Preceding Darlene in death were her parents, her husband Dale in 2000 and two sisters: Arvilla Flisher and Loretta Kauffman.

The family would like to thank the staff at Pleasantview for the kind and tender care they provided for Darlene.
