NOTICE OF INTENT TO FILL VACANCY BY APPOINTMENT
To the Electors of the City of Lone Tree, Iowa:
You are hereby notified that the City of Lone Tree, Iowa, has two vacancies of the council seats previously held by Jennifer Poeschel and Cathie Conzemius. The office of the council seats which expire December 31, 2025, are vacant as of June 04, 2024, pursuant to Section 69.2, Code of Iowa.
You are further notified that pursuant to Section 372.13(2) of the Code of Iowa, the Council has elected to fill the vacancies by appointment, but the electors of the City have the right to file a petition requiring that the vacancy be filled by a special election. A valid petition would have to be filed with the Lone Tree City Clerk within 14 days after publication of this notice, or within 14 days after appointments are made.
The appointments shall be for the period until the next pending election, as defined by Section 69.12, Code of Iowa.
The Council intends to make the appointments to fill the vacancies at its regular City Council meeting on August 05, 2024 and the appointment will become effective immediately and will expire December 31, 2025.
Persons wanting to be considered should submit a request in writing to the City Clerk by 1 p.m. on July 30, 2024.
