WELLMAN
On Friday, July 12, Wellman Library’s new Riverboat Room was transformed into a Cat Café for teens, thanks to a little help from PAWS & More. Terri Wood, Development Manager at the Washington-based animal shelter, brought six kittens to the library, aged two to three months old. Teens enjoyed Italian sodas and cookies while playing with the kittens; they also helped the shelter out by composing bios for each kitty that let prospective adoptive pet parents know a bit about their personality.
Those enjoying the café were all for a permanent cat café in Wellman; until that happens, area residents will have to get their fix at Coffee Cats Café in West Des Moines or the recently opened Press Paws Cat Café & Game Room in Burlington.
Although snacks and beverages aren’t included, the cats at PAWS & More always crave attention; the shelter at 1004 W. Madison St., Washington, is open daily from noon to 4 p.m.
