Wellman
For the second straight meeting, the Wellman City Council held another brief session, this time lasting about 20 minutes compared to 15 minutes at its previous meeting.
Despite the short meeting, the council reviewed the Van Wert Company Itron AMR System proposal for a gas meter upgrade. The proposal included $4,200 for a mobile transceiver, $18,000 for a system upgrade and $4,250 in annual charges.
After reviewing the costs, the council approved the proposal.
Sheriff’s report
During the previous meeting on Aug. 3, Lt. Aaron Gould discussed a recent dog bite in Wellman. He told the council it would be up to them to determine whether the dog could return to the city. At the time, the dog was under a 10-day quarantine at a veterinary clinic.
Gould was once again present at the council’s latest meeting and discussed recent activity in the city. The dog situation was not discussed during the meeting.
Next meeting
Because the first Monday in September falls on Labor Day, the Wellman City Council will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
