Watoto Children’s Choir to perform at Celebration Hall

Churches of the Mid-Prairie District are excited to announce that on Wednesday, Sept. 25, the Watoto Children’s Choir will be performing at Hillcrest Academy’s Celebration Hall from 7-8:15 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. A free will offering will be taken.

Watoto, a Christ-centered ministry based in Uganda, East Africa, presents the Watoto Children’s Choir performing songs from their new album, “Better Days—There Is Hope.” This 6-month U.S. tour tells the inspiring story of orphaned and abandoned African children who, through love and care, have risen above their circumstances and are now poised to become Africa’s future leaders.

Founded in 1984 during a time of civil unrest, Watoto established a local church in Kampala, Uganda, to bring hope and life to the nation. Since then, Watoto has rescued thousands of orphaned and abandoned children, placing them in loving families, and has empowered vulnerable women in their communities.

With over 100 children’s choirs having toured six continents, Watoto continues to offer a better future filled with promise. Over the past four decades, despite evolving challenges in Africa, Watoto’s vision remains the same—Watoto is committed to celebrating Christ and caring for community.

Watoto Children’s Choirs have traveled extensively since 1994 sharing a message of hope for Africa’s most vulnerable children and women. During that time, the choirs have performed for the President of the United States, met Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, and visited almost every major parliament in the world. Yet, as remarkable as those moments have been, the choirs cherish the times they’ve met ordinary people in their moment of pain and have been able to see firsthand how Jesus heals.

The proceeds from the album will support Watoto in providing vulnerable children with education, medical care, a safe and loving home, and, most importantly, the love of a family.

The production itself mirrors Africa’s vibrant and colorful essence, taking you on an emotional journey as the children sing, dance, and share their personal stories of restoration and hope. Their smiles and warm embraces offer a powerful message: “No matter what you’re facing, Jesus is our hope and brighter days are ahead. Just look at the change He has brought to my life.”
