Posted

Falling just one game short of advancing to state, Hillcrest was defeated by the Burlington Notre Dame Nikes, 4-3, on July 11.

Burlington held on to a 4-0 lead after five innings played but the Ravens would not go down without a fight, scoring three runs in the sixth frame to cut the decficit to one.

Despite the rally the Ravens were unable to tie or take the lead in the top of the seventh and the game came to a close.

The Raven's season comes to an end with a 21-5 record. Even though this loss with sting for the time being this was still  a great year for Hillcrest baseball, winning the North Division of the Southeast Iowa Superconfernce with an undefeated conference record and becoming District 10 Champions.

Posting 20 plus wins for the first time since 2009 Hillcrest is building towards a bright future.
