The scoring flew around the gym like it did two years ago when Mid-Prairie rolled to a River Valley Conference championship with an unbeaten record.

Ace Peck scored a game-high 20 points and six 3-pointers.

Bryce Henry hit for 16 points.

The Golden Hawks’ five starters combined to score 65 points.

When the offensive blast was over in the Dec. 15 game, Mid-Prairie secured an 81-43 victory against Durant. It was the first time in two seasons that the Golden Hawks had topped 80 points.

“It was a great shooting night for multiple guys on the evening,” Golden Hawks head coach Daren Lambert said. “We were able to put multiple guys in double figures, which is great to see from an offensive standpoint.”

The Golden Hawks hit more than half their shots, led by Peck’s 7-for-10 shooting night.

“Ace Peck had a great night shooting around the perimeter and hit shots early, which created opportunities for other players throughout the game,” Lambert said.

Landon Sullivan added 12 points and junior point guard Brady Weber had 11.

The Golden Hawks scored 25 points in the opening quarter and added another 20 points in the second quarter for a 45-22 lead at halftime.

“This is one of the first games we have had multiple players hit shots on the same night,” Lambert said. “We valued the possession of the basketball and limited turnovers and also played solid defense, which increased our scoring chances.”

Mason Badtram led Durant (0-8) with 14 points.

The Golden Hawks (4-3) play at Solon on Thursday night.

Mid-Prairie 62, Pekin 50

Landon Sullivan scored 13 points and Brady Webber added 12 as the Golden Hawks traveled to Pekin on Dec. 14 for a nonconference win.

The Golden Hawks scored 19 points in the first quarter to take an early 11-point lead and held off Pekin (3-4) in the second half.

Dylan Henry added 12 points for Mid-Prairie. Weber had a team-high 8 rebounds.

JaeDon Wolver led Pekin with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Wilton 71, Mid-Prairie 60

Wilton seniors Landyn Putman and Casen Reid combined to score 43 points, leading the Beavers to an 11-point win over the Golden Hawks on Dec. 12.

Brady Weber and Dylan Henry each scored 14 points for Mid-Prairie.

Tied at 47-47 after three quarters, Wilton outscored the Golden Hawks 24-13 in the final period to capture its fourth win in five games.

Wilton’s starting lineup scored all 71 points. Landyn Putman scored a game-high 23 points and his younger brother, Bryer, had a double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds.

Brock Harland added 10 points for Mid-Prairie and Weber had a team-high 8 rebounds.
