RIVERSIDE
With a team score of 151, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks took second place at Highland’s girl wrestling tournament on Friday, Jan. 5.
Taking first place was West Liberty with 206 and third was Iowa City Liberty with 123.
The top individual finish came from Ashlee Farrier (21-3) who placed first in the 130 pound category. All three of her wins came by fall and she earned 28 points for the Hawks.
Mardie Berry (23-11) and Ellie Callahan (19-12) each placed second place at 155 and 170, respectively.
Austyn Sexton (22-12) was the lone third place finish for Mid-Prairie at 115.
Potentially, Mid-Prairie could’ve had another top three finish from Ellie Brenneman (22-10) but she was disqualified in the semifinal round from an illegal slam that immediately ended the match. Brenneman would eventually finish in fourth place at 135.
Becca Westfall (12-9) at 110 and Shelby Stacey (17-12) at 235 also placed fourth for the Hawks.
