IOWA CITY

Because of impending snow, the doubleheader featuring the visiting Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks and Regina Regals was pushed up, starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11.

The boys game kicked off the festivities. The Hawks started slow, falling behind by 19 after one quarter. That would be the Hawks downfall as they could never catch up, eventually losing 69-52.

The Hawks pushed hard to start the third quarter, pullng to within seven points but the Regals regained the momentum, outscoring the Hawks by two in the final frame to pull off the win, quelling the comeback effort.

Now, the Regals are 10-2 while the Hawks sit at 4-5.

The No. 4 ranked Regals did not let up, winning 70-46 and outscoring Mid-Prairie in each quarter besides the last when junior varsity players took the court.

The Regals climbed to 11-2 while Mid-Prairie sits above .500 at 6-5.

Weather postponements

Both Mid-Prairie squads were slated to host the Tipton Tigers on Friday, Jan. 12. Instead, the games were re-scheduled for Monday, Feb. 5.

Now, both Hawk teams will host West Branch on Tuesday, Jan. 16, as the next matchup.
