Michael P. McDole, 76, of Riverside, passed away Monday, Aug. 14, 2023, at the VA Medical Hospital in Iowa City. Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, from 4-8 p.m. at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Riverside. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023, at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Riverside with full military rites by the Riverside V.F.W. Post 6414. Following the committal services, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Michael Pete McDole was born Jan. 7, 1947, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Darrel David and Marian Ruth (Lopshire) McDole. He was a 1966 graduate of Highland High School. Mike proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On March 2, 1968, Mike was united in marriage to Karolyn Kucera at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside. He worked for HP Smith/Loprex as a mechanic. Mike was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside, Riverside Fire Department for 14 years and the Riverside First Responders for 5 years. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing the slots, jig-saw puzzles and reading, but most of all he loved to spend time with his family.
Mike will be deeply missed by his wife: Karolyn of Riverside; his children: Scott McDole of West Union and Brian (Dianna) McDole of Riverside; five grandchildren: Taylor McDole, Bailey McDole, Kera Evans, Emily Evans and Zachary McDole; seven great-grandchildren: Taj, Trey, Deckard, Cambria, Cordelia, Calaius, and Seylah; one sister: Karen Simpson of Ainsworth; and many nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Patrick McDole; and one sister: Marilyn Rhodes.
