Kirkwood Washington County Regional Center is excited to announce an upcoming event aimed at providing valuable information to current 8th – 11th grade high school students and their parents about College Credit in High School (CCHS) opportunities next academic year.

“High school is a crucial time for students to explore academic pathways and plan for their future,” says Tera Pickens, Director of Kirkwood Washington County Regional Center. “CCHS Information Night gives parents and students a chance to learn about the benefits of college credit in high school, tour our state-of-the-art lab spaces, and begin the application and registration process.”

The College Credit in High School Information Night will be held on Wednesday, February 7 from 6-8 p.m. at Kirkwood Washington County Regional Center, 2192 Lexington Blvd., Washington. RSVP requested; call 319-653-4655.

College Credit in High School provides Washington County teens the opportunity to explore careers, learn time management and study skills, and earn free, transferable college credit that also counts towards their high school diploma. The benefits of CCHS are extensive, including the reduction of the time and cost of a college education or learning a high-demand skilled trade.

In 2022-2023, Kirkwood Community College’s seven county service region served over 5,900 high school students, earning greater than 48,000 college credits, with a tuition cost savings of $9.6 million.
