The Kalona Public Library began their summer reading program last week (June 14). This year they’ve introduced new activities and guests like magicians, tie-dye days, and even giant bubbles. The program offers daily projects for kids, whether it’s story time or getting to go to a zoo.
The library encourages kids and adults to stay reading throughout the summer even though they are out of school. Saturday June 19 the program brought Larry TeBockhorst, a local author, to do a reading and signing of his book “Undermined in Laredo”. After the reading, kids could ask TeBockhorst questions about his profession or his creative process. The events and activities the library offers introduces creative outlets and advancements in learning.
Kalona Library’s summer reading program will continue throughout the summer. Some upcoming events are visiting Prairie Patch Farms (Thursday, June 24), Blank Park Zoo (Tuesday, June 29), and Raptor Center visit (Thursday July 1). The program is offered to all ages, for more information and the events calendar, visit kalona.lib.ia.us.
