IOWA CITY
The monthly formal session for zoning and platting considerations has been set for December 14 by the Johnson County Board of Supervisors.
The date was set by the Board during an abbreviated formal session Nov. 21. The Board did not have a work session last week due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
The formal session on Dec. 14 will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Johnson County Health and Human Services Building, Room 203C, 855 South Dubuque Street, Iowa City. A number of other items will also be on the agenda.
In addition to considering approval of multiple zoning and platting applications, the Board will also hold a public hearing in connection with a proposed fringe area agreement amendment with the City of North Liberty.
Canvass of Votes
The Board conducted its Canvass of Votes following its Nov. 21 formal session, covering school board races in Lone Tree, Clear Creek Amana and Solon.
Alex Ogren was the top vote-getter in the Lone Tree School Board election.
City races were also held in Lone Tree and Hills during the Nov. 7 election.
The Canvass passed by a 4-0 vote.
Budget Season
The Board will hold its first budget work session Dec. 11.
Budget sessions will be held through December and January with more discussions and decision-making meetings coming in February. Public hearings are scheduled for March 13 and April 3, 2025. The Fiscal Year 2025 budget is scheduled to be voted on April 18.
The FY24 budget was initially approved by the Board at $146.85 million.
Board Action
The Board approved a resolution establishing Fund 37 Department 37 for Standard Allowance American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
