IOWA CITY
Johnson County voters will head to the polls June 7 to decide a number of primary races, including the U.S. Senate and House, governor and other state offices, and local elections that include the Johnson County Board of Supervisors.
Polling places include the Lone Tree American Legion, 300 N. Devoe St.; Sharon Center United Methodist Church, 2804 520th St. SW; Hills Community Center, 110 E. Main St.; and Mid-Prairie HSEC, 1592 Angle Rd. SW.
Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
In addition, early voting can be done in person at the Johnson County Auditor’s Office, 913 S. Dubuque St., through June 6. Weekday hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, June 4, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, June 5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The News-area candidates include Democrat Jon Green, a current Johnson County Supervisor and former Lone Tree Mayor, running for Supervisor, along with Republican Jammie Bradshaw of Iowa City. They are in separate primary contests, but could meet in the race for two Supervisor seats in the general election in November.
Heather Hora, a Highland High School graduate and resident of Riverside, is running for state representative in the Republican primary, District 92.
Kim Reynolds, the current Iowa governor, is the only Republican on the primary ballot. Longtime senator Chuck Grassley and Jim Carlin are on the Republican ticket for U.S Senator. Mariannette Miller-Meeks is on the ballot for U.S. Representative.
Deidre DeJear of Des Moines is on the Democratic ballot for governor. Democrats on the primary ballot for U.S. Senator are Abby Finkenauer of Cedar Rapids, Michael Franken of Des Moines and Glenn Hurst of Minden. Christina Bohannan of Iowa City is on the Democratic primary ballot for U.S. Representative.
