James Lee Davison

James Lee Davison was born Nov. 17, 1935, in Wayland, Iowa, the son of Homer and Addie (Neff) Davison. He was united to his high school sweetheart Patricia Ann Bower on June 7, 1957, in Washington. Jim went on to barber school and then was a barber for many years in Sigourney and Washington before starting Davison Painting and Papering in the early 1970s. 
Upon his retirement he moved to Kalona where he and Patricia lived until her death. He then moved to the United Presbyterian Home in Washington. Jim enjoyed volunteering at the Kalona Historical Village, old cars and tractors and spending time with his family.
James went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at the United Presbyterian Home at the age of 87.
James is survived by son: Kevin Hargrave and wife Aline, grandchildren: Kane, Larissa and Luana of Wellington, Florida; son: Curtis Davison and wife EunHi of Alpharetta, Georgia; daughter: Carmela Ulin and husband Tom, grandchildren: Jordan of Wellman, and Mikayla Slaubaugh of Kalona; and son: Kent Davison and wife Stacie, grandchild: Xander of Silverdale, Washington.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; four brothers: Dale, Arthur, Kenneth, and Dean; and four sisters: Allie Guengerich, Dorothy Hinkle, Erma Alliman, and Phyllis Graber.
A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023, at Yoder Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Burial will be at Sharon Hill Cemetery. Officiating clergy will be Chaplain Andrew Zuehlke. A visitation will be from 9:30 until service time. A memorial fund has been established for the United Presbyterian Home (UP Home) in Washington.
