WELLMAN
The Wellman City Council took just eight minutes to wrap up business at their final meeting of the year on Monday night. The Dec. 18 meeting was the last for council member Tony Evans, who has served the council since 2020.
“Thank you for stepping up and serving,” Mayor Ryan Miller said, echoing a sentiment expressed by council member Aaron Fleming.
No comments were made during the public hearing for the project manual and estimated cost for the splash pad project. The council proceeded to pass a resolution accepting such, allowing the project to go out to bid.
The council passed a second resolution authorizing the city clerk to transfer funds to cover the city’s December debt payments.
The council approved a bridge inspection agreement with Calhoun-Burns & Associates Inc. for the annual inspection of the 2nd Street and 9th Avenue bridges.
Finally, the council approved 2024 sealcoat prices from LL Pelling Co. The prices increased slightly from the previous year.
Evans had the honor of making the motion to adjourn. He expects to continue serving the city on the Planning and Zoning Commission.
The Wellman City Council will next meet on Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
