Come on in! Pleasantview to host ‘Parade of Apartments’

KALONA

We all have access to beautiful, glossy home and interiors magazines that show us an idealized version of daily living. With professional help from interior designers and stylists, any space can be turned into an attractive and eye-catching one. But can you imagine yourself living in those homes? The lived-in-ness can often be lacking, and that can make it challenging to see yourself there.

Pleasantview has apartments available in their Assisted Living complex, and the staff wants you to be able to imagine a life there. To that end, they are hosting their first-ever Parade of Apartments on Tuesday, July 9 from 4-6 p.m.

Inspired by the Parade of Homes, the Parade of Apartments will allow visitors a glimpse into the lives and lifestyles of current residents, who will open their doors to all who wish to see inside their apartments.

“People are pretty proud of their apartments over there, so they’re excited,” Marketing Director Mikayla Brokaw says. “We told them last week that this is happening, and a majority of them are more than willing to open their doors for people.”

When visitors come through, the residents will be at their apartments, eager to show visitors around and answer questions. Pleasantview staff will also be on hand to answer questions and help those interested in an apartment start the application process.

The Assisted Living apartments at Pleasantview are special in two ways: those that remain open are brand new, never lived in, and each one has a unique layout and features, including “really big windows.” Those who elect to move in will have a fresh, one-of-a-kind space to inhabit, a notable luxury.

The open and available units – “We don’t have a ton left, but we still have some,” Brokaw notes -- will also be viewable at the Parade of Apartments.

How do you know if an apartment in the Assisted Living complex is right for you? Those who live there are “fairly independent,” Brokaw says. “They may just want the ease of knowing that there’s help if they need it.”

Residents can request help with activities of daily living – dressing, bathing, grooming, and medications, for example. “Some people just want to live in Assisted Living because they don’t want to cook their own meals anymore, or they want that social aspect,” Brokaw adds.

Apartments are available in studio and 1-bedroom sizes, ranging from 410 to 680 square feet, perfect for accommodating singles and couples. Because all three meals are provided, the kitchens do not contain stoves, but they do have refrigerators, freezers, sinks, and cabinet space.

The communal dining room provides enough space for residents of all 28 apartments to eat together, should they desire. Lounge and activity spaces are also available in the building so that people can socialize and participate in group activities.

And how do the current residents feel about their lives in the Assisted Living complex?

“They are loving it,” Brokaw says. “They say that it’s home.”

Pleasantview’s Assisted Living apartments are fully accessible and available on a month-to-month basis. To learn more, attend the Parade of Apartments on Tuesday, July 9 from 4-6 p.m., or contact Mikayla Brokaw at 319-656-2421 ext. 400 or mbrokaw@pvkalona.com.
