WELLMAN

Beau Flynn of Mid-Prairie had two assists and two goals through his first three years on Mid-Prairie soccer club.

Against Columbus on Thursday, April 4, Flynn had a career night, netting three goals to lead the Hawks to a 3-1 win. The Hawks are now 2-2.

Here’s how Flynn did it:

One penalty kick easily beat the Columbus goaltender. Two header goals in front of the net. Three goals all scored in the second half. Four total shots on goal. Five minutes between the three goals. Six total points for Flynn.

Flynn outscored the Hawk’s yearly offensive output in one half as the young season begins to heat up.

He is now the Hawks leading goal scorer on the year.

The Hawk win was not guaranteed, however.

With 15:12 remaining in the second half, Flynn made it 3-1 with a penalty kick as the Hawks looked to close the game strong.

But the Wildcat offense wouldn’t relent, scoring with four minutes left. This sparked hope for the Wildcats as the path to an unlikely comeback showed.

But the Hawks prevailed, running out the clock to pick up the win.

The Golden Hawks will continue their season against Cedar Valley Christian on Thursday, April 11; Beckman Catholic on Friday, April 12; and on the road against West Branch on Monday, April 15.
