Roger Smith of Brighton, who allegedly threatened Washington County Hospital and Clinics on Thursday, Sept. 17, is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 14.

A few weeks ago, WCHC was placed on lockdown following threats allegedly made by Smith, 60. According to reports, Smith threatened WCHC over the phone and said “lots of people were going to get hurt.” During the call, he also said a particular hospital employee should be out front wearing a vest.

The call was made around 9:15 a.m. After police were notified of the threat, WCHC and Stewart Elementary School in Washington were placed on lockdown prior to Smith’s arrest.

According to police, no other parts of the hospital or any other facilities were targeted.

Smith was eventually arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail, where he was charged with first-degree harassment.
