Brighton

Roger Smith of Brighton pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on Wednesday, October 14, after threatening Washington County Hospital and Clinics last month.

Smith, 60, is scheduled to appear for a pretrial conference on Wednesday, December 16.

Smith reportedly called the hospital around 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, September 17, and said, “lots of people were going to get hurt” and that a hospital employee should be out front wearing a vest.

The hospital contacted the Washington Police Department, and both the hospital and Stewart Elementary School in Washington were placed on lockdown following the threatening call.

Police later located and arrested Smith before transporting him to the Washington County Jail.

Smith faces a charge of first-degree harassment.
