Kalona

A trial date has been set for a Kalona resident charged with sexual abuse on July 8. The trial is scheduled for January 5 in Johnson County.

Delwyn Borntrager, 22, of Kalona, was arrested on July 8 after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

According to reports, Borntrager was arrested after admitting to having sex with an underage girl who was reportedly 15 years old at the time of the incident. The incident reportedly occurred between December 1 and January 9.

He was charged with third-degree sexual abuse, a Class C felony. A no-contact order was also issued.

According to court records, his bond was set at $15,000 and was later posted.

If convicted, Borntrager could face up to 10 years in prison, according to reports.
