RIVERSIDE
Travis Riggan, President of Riverside Area Community Club, won a seat on the Riverside City Council in a special election held Tuesday.
Riggan received 96 of the 159 votes tallied in the election.
He’ll serve out a four-year term that will go until the end of 2029, replacing Chris Grinstead, who resigned the position following a relocation to Washington.
Levi Schnoebelen received 35 votes and Nickie Nguyen had 24. Current Councilman Edgar McGuire, who was appointed to the seat and withdrew from the special election, had 10 votes.
Riggan will be seated for the first time at the Council’s regularly scheduled meeting Sept. 21, following certification by Washington County.
“I feel good. I know there’s a lot of insight that I can provide in the community,” Riggan said. “I have a pretty, I would say, deep perspective of what this community means, not only to myself but the residents of the community.”
In addition to being President of RACC and serving as a lead organizer for the city’s annual Trekfest celebration, Riggan is head golf coach at Highland High School.
