Mike Swartzentruber, 60, of Centerburg, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 5, 2026, following a heart attack. Born September 25, 1966, in Washington, Iowa, Mike was the son of the late Paul E. and Martha (Miller) Swartzentruber. He grew up in Kalona, Iowa, before making central Ohio his home for his adult life.
On April 22, 1989, Mike married the love of his life, Melanie Gingerich, and together they shared 37 wonderful years of marriage. A born salesman who genuinely loved people, Mike’s natural care and warmth allowed him to thrive for 30 years in sales at Gingerich Clean Burn. He was also the co-founder of Hunters Blend Coffee, an endeavor that was his true passion.
Mike lived his life to the fullest, pouring his whole heart into everything he did. A motto that defined his generous, high-energy spirit was, “If a little is good, more has to be better.” Passionate about serving the Lord, his faith served as the rock-solid foundation of his life, and every other interest flowed naturally from it. He had a big heart and was always looking for ways to serve others.
Mike loved music, playing the guitar, and singing—often sharing his talent at many weddings and funerals over the years, as well as enjoying music sessions with friends. He was patriotic to the core, an avid hunter, and enjoyed power lifting, fitness, reading, and displaying his pyromania skills. Above all, his proudest achievements were his wife, his children, and his adorable grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife: Melanie Swartzentruber; his son: Shane Michael Swartzentruber; his daughter: Brooke Brant, and her husband, Mitchell Brant; and his cherished grandchildren: Norah and Lincoln Brant. He also leaves behind his siblings: Twila (Ken) Beachy, Mark (Madonna) Swartzentruber, Grace (Paul) Kurtz, Fern (Merle) Bontrager, Doris (Duane) Petersheim, and Crystal (Phil) Eby; his in-laws: Zendall (Karla) Gingerich, Clayton (Debbie) Gingerich, Al (Rosanna) Gingerich, and Brenda (Tony) Wise; many nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.
