Juanita Mae Westlake Forbes, 88, passed away July 26, 2026, at Windmill Manor in Coralville.
Juanita was born in Conesville, Iowa November 15, 1937, to Earl and Delta (Mink) Westlake. She attended country school with her siblings and graduated from Lone Tree High School in 1958. During her senior year she established a scholarship in the name of Carrie Stanley, an educator with the University of Iowa. To this day the scholarship remains.
In May of 1958 she was united in marriage to Jerry Wayne Forbes. The couple later divorced.
In 1958, Juanita started her career with Proctor and Gamble, hired as employee #6. She retired in 1995 after dedicating 34 years.
During retirement she enjoyed traveling, SOLO parents, cheering on the Hawkeyes and the Red Hat Society.
Juanita leaves behind her daughters: Morgan Forbes of Coralville and Brenda Romer of Redwood City, California; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren; as well as her brother: James (Nancy) Westlake.
She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband: Jerry; brother: Alvin Westlake; and sisters: Margaret Hicok, Thelma Frauenholtz, Mary Keever and Helen Westlake.
Per her wishes, no services are planned. Donations in Juanita’s name may be made to the Carrie Stanley Scholarship Fund or Lone Tree High School.
Mom’s message to family and friends was, “I love you all dearly and I’ll see you upstairs.”
The family wishes to sincerely thank the wonderful staff at Windmill Manor who showed mom and family unconditional love. A special shoutout to Connie, our “Boo.”
