Highland Schools approve teacher raises for 2026-27

Teachers in the Highland Community School District will be getting a $1,000 pay raise next year.

The Highland School Board, during a special meeting Monday, approved staff contracts for the 2026-27 school year.

The pay increase was negotiated in meetings with the Highland Education Association on April 21.

Monday’s special meeting finalized the contracts with approval of the Board.

Baseball Fundraiser

The Highland High School baseball team is selling popcorn to raise funds for equipment and game jerseys.

The Board approved the fundraiser Monday.

Practice for the summer season begins next Monday. The Huskies begin the season May 20 at Calamus-Wheatland.

Budget Amendment

The Board set a public hearing for 5 p.m. May 11, when an amendment to the 2025-26 budget is presented. The amendment is to include daycare payroll expenses.

Board Action

The Board approved a list of 2026 Highland graduates.

The Board approved appointments of Mark Janicek, assistant football coach; Elexa Buysse and Chase Hickenbottom, daycare lead teachers; Suzanne Werner, football cheer sponsor.

Next Meeting

The Board will hold its next formal meeting at 5 p.m. May 11.
