Lone Tree
A crash near Lone Tree on Thursday, August 27, has resulted in the death of a motorcycle driver.
According to reports, the driver of the 2001 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was Terry Burnes, 61, of Lone Tree.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:56 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 22 and Wapsi Avenue near Lone Tree.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, William Lewis of Blair, Nebraska, was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado westbound when he collided with Burnes, who was traveling northbound through the intersection on his motorcycle.
Following the crash, Burnes was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later passed away on Sunday, August 30, from injuries suffered in the crash three days earlier.
Lewis was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
