Willow Creek Quilting & Gifts has been serving the Kalona community for 30 years now, offering quality quilt fabric, wool projects, quilt kits, specialty candles, lotions, and now fully finished quilts. 

Juanita Troyer, store owner and quilt connoisseur, says that she can’t believe that the store has been open for 30 years already, and that she remembers how it all started. 

“After I sent my last child off to school full time, I was looking for something to do and honestly it all happened so quickly,” Troyer said. “It happened in less than a week. My husband and I went to look at a business to see if it would be a good fit for me and the rest is history.”

The rest was indeed history as Troyer and her shop look to celebrate their 30th anniversary of being open. Even after 30 years, Troyer still has the same burning passion and excitement to operate her shop as she did when she first opened it.

“I just love it here. I love my employees and I love my customers,” Troyer said. “It’s always great meeting new people and getting them to try out quilting.” 

To celebrate, Troyer is inviting all shoppers to stop in and see what the specials are each week..

“We’re going to have 30 days of sales for the 30 years that we’ve been open,” Troyer said. “Five days (of sales) each week for six weeks. We’re also excited to be starting up our quilting classes and the Saturday morning club for the public.”
