Wellman bids farewell to skating rink operator

Posted

Teresa Lampe, Wellman Recreation Director is retiring from the Wellman Skating Rink this October. Lampe has been a part of the Wellman community since 2007, helping kids and their families plan exciting events at the rink.

Lampe is originally from Washington, Iowa but now lives in Wellman with her family. In November of 2018, she was hired as the Wellman Recreation Director, after the city took over ownership of the Wellman Skating Rink. While she’s retired from the skating rink, she still works around the community as the recreation director.

After her years of service, many community members wave her goodbye from her skating rink position. Many young kids probably remember her serving them snacks or Lampe handing them tickets when they walked into the rink. Lampe has helped host over hundreds of birthday parties and event gatherings.

“I’ll definitely miss playing the YMCA and watching all the skaters do the arm movements, for some it’s a cake walk, and then you see the younger kids almost falling on their butts,” Lampe reflects.

During Lampe’s retirement, she wants to grow closer to her family and friends and be able to spend more time making memories with them. Join us in celebrating Teresa’s hard work and years of service at the Wellman Skating Rink.
