LONE TREE
Nothing is set in stone, but the Lone Tree school district has a good jump on their summer projects list.
Superintendent Tyler Hotz introduced a refined summer project list at the school board workshop meeting on Wednesday, March 6, already securing bids for most projects, making it easier for the board to pick and choose what they’ll do this and next summer.
Some options presented to the board: south gym pad replacement, PA networking and phone system, gym bleacher and backboard maintenance, flower bed upgrades, Ag shop drainage, stage curtains, scoreboard replacements, track replacement/drainage and others.
Hotz also mentioned that the south gym floor replacement is needed but could not be done this summer because of a previous commitment to an HVAC project.
The board will continue to view this list and will eventually come to a final consensus on what comes and goes.
Calendar Committee
Members of the calendar committee and student council joined this workshop to give feedback to the board about opinions on winter and spring breaks, among other things, in preparation for next year’s calendar.
Board members provided certain parameters they’d like to impose when the calendar committee finalizes a calendar for school year 2024-25. One included being done with school before Memorial Day; another included no spring break, but two days off around Easter to honor those who celebrate and others who travel.
The calendar committee will use feedback to create a calendar and look for approval from the board in the future.
Next school board meeting: Lone Tree will meet for their regular school board meeting on Wednesday, March 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the school library. This is a week later than their regular schedule, but the board needed to change the date due to unforeseen circumstances.
