Ronald E. Bushell, 73, of Lone Tree, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, at the University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center Downtown. Visitation will be held Friday, October 25, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Lone Tree. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree. Following the services, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the church. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence, Iowa at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Riverside Star Trek Museum or the Humane Society of Johnson County in memory of Ron. Ronald Eugene Bushell was born on September 27, 1951, in Independence, Iowa the son of Donald Edward and Geraldine Mae (Beatty) Bushell. He was a 1970 graduate of Jefferson High School in Independence and then attended college before starting his career at the University of Iowa as a Computer Technician. On May 29, 1976, Ron was united in marriage to Diane Mary Snyder in Independence. Ron ended his working career as a computer technician at Goodwill of the Heartland and volunteering at the Riverside Star Trek Museum. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree and the West Liberty and Milan Gun Clubs. Ron enjoyed target shooting, hunting, fishing, attending Star Trek conventions and watching T.V. and movies, but most of all, he loved to spend time with his family, especially the grandchildren and his dogs.
Ron will be deeply missed by his wife, Diane of Lone Tree; his children, Bethany (Josh) Cole of Solon; Leah (Matthew) Grunzweig of Cedar Rapids; Jared (Brenda) Bushell of Hills and Ellie Bushell (Corey Shaw) of Centennial, Colorado; ten grandchildren, Anna (Ruperto Martinez) and Emma Jauron; Averi, Raeleigh and Raegan Cole; Logan and Alexander Grunzweig; Alexis and Harper Bushell and Ellana Bushell and great-granddaughter, Mariella Martinez.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Marvin and Mary Snyder; one brother, Arnold “Arnie” Bushell and many beloved pets.
