Robert “Bob” Wisor, 88, of Iowa City, passed away July 25, 2024, at The Bird House - Hospice Home of Johnson County.

A rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City.  Visitation will follow from 5-7 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Iowa City.  Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services from 9-10 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 2, 2024, at Vilanova Cemetery near DeWitt, Iowa.

Bob was born July 7, 1936, in Clinton, Iowa, to Roman and Clara (Manikowski) Wisor.  After graduating from Elvira High School in Elvira, Iowa, Bob attended St. Ambrose College for two years before being drafted into the Army.  Following honorable discharge, Bob graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in animal science.

On Sept. 26, 1964, Bob married LaVon Peters and to this union, three children were born.

Bob farmed for several years on the family farm while working at 1st National Bank in Clinton. After moving to Lone Tree, he worked at Farmers and Merchants Savings Bank as a loan officer. He retired from banking in 2000.

Bob was a long-standing member of the Knights of Columbus and also belonged to the Eagles Club. He was also a faithful attendant and usher at St. Patrick Catholic Church. In his spare time, he could often be found on the golf course, fishing, dancing or cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Bob also cherished his time with his children and especially grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his children: Stephanie (Mike) Schoel, Mark Wisor and Matt Wisor; grandchildren: Sarah and Eric Schoel; and his sister: Sister Marjorie Wisor. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife: LaVon; and siblings: Francis Wisor, Joseph Wisor, Clara Nugent, Mary Jost, Alberta Sharnik and Teresa Cotter.
