Rob Sladek was appointed as the Lone Tree Board of Education’s newest member to fill the vacant seat left when former board member Joe Williams moved out of the district last month.
Four candidates — Sladek, Gordon Viers, Lindsey Mills and Jammie Bradshaw — were evaluated by the school board during a closed session special meeting on Thursday, Dec. 17. After coming out of the closed session, board member Mike Waldschmidt said all four candidates were “very impressive.”
Board president Christina Magruder commended the candidates on their well-thought-out presentations and responses to interview questions.
“It’s refreshing to see so many people interested in serving on the school board,” she said. “It’s a great thing for our district.”
Board member Joel Yedlik nominated and voted for Viers. Sladek was nominated by Michael Hotz and voted for by Hotz, Waldschmidt and Magruder.
The Lone Tree school board will meet next for a work session on Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 6 p.m. The next regular meeting of the school board will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 6 p.m. in the Media Center.
