The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6414 Riverside and its VFW Auxiliary recognized the winners of their scholarships following the Memorial Day Services, Monday, May 30 at the Post Home. The VFW 1st place $1500 scholarship recipient is Leah Wide, daughter of Dan and Heidi Wide, runner-up $1500 scholarship recipient is Eli Slaymaker, son of Tony and Wynette Slaymaker both of Riverside.
The VFW Auxiliary $1500 scholarship recipient is Danielle Pettitt, daughter of Ben and Susan Pettit, Lone Tree. Following the presentation Leah, Eli and Danielle, with their families, were invited to read their winning essays and enjoy lunch with the comrades and members of the VFW, its Auxiliary and guests.
These scholarships are an annual Youth Activities project for graduating seniors from Highland High School or graduating seniors that have family members in the VFW and Auxiliary Post No. 6414 Riverside. Congratulations to these students for their achievements.
