Two Riverside businesses suffered damage when they were broken into over the weekend.  La Chiva Loka and Duffey Cycles are neighboring businesses on West 1st Street.

The Washington County Dispatch received a call at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 17 from La Chiva Loca reporting that the business had been broken into.  At 9:26 a.m., the dispatch received a call from Duffey Cycles reporting that the business had been broken into by way of the front door, windows were broken, and the place was ransacked.

Karen and Jose Cabrera, the owners of La Chiva Loka, a Mexican and American restaurant, described the damage inside as extensive.  The restaurant’s point of sale system was destroyed, as was the new bar in the basement.  Alcohol was poured out over walls and equipment.  As a result, the restaurant will be closed temporarily.

Those with information about the burglary can contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at (319) 653-2107
