Ethan Trimpe is second-team All-State

Mid-Prairie’s Ethan Trimpe was named second-team All-State when the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association released its annual awards on Monday. 

The Golden Hawk senior led the team with nine assists from his position in the middle of the defense. Junior Jack Pennington received honorable mention. He scored 14 goals and assisted on six during Mid-Prairie’s 11-5 season, which ended in the substate final. 

Burlington Notre Dame’s Sam Brueck was named Mr. Soccer after scoring 35 goals and assisting on 22 during the Nike’s 23-1 state championship season. 

 

Academic All-State

Aidan Yoder, John Hughes, and Noah Miller were named first-team Academic All-State for Hillcrest Academy. Aaron Hershberger was second team and Eli Ours received honorable mention.

For Mid-Prairie, Gunnar Gingerich was named to the Academic All-State second team. Aaron Slaubaugh, Trimpe, Riley Yoder, Pennington and Jarrett Hoffman received honorable mention.

For the Golden Hawk girls, the Mid-Prairie and Hillcrest students recognized included: Esther Hughes and Lilou Beachy, who  were named first-team Academic All-State. Evelyn Gerber and Julia Boller were named to the second team, while Emily Swartzentruber, Emma Slaubaugh, Leah Bontrager, and Kaitlin Martin received honorable mention. 

 

SEISC All-Conference

Hillcrest Academy senior defender Eli Ours and midfielder Noah Miller were named to the SEISC All-Conference first team after leading the Ravens to a 9-6 finish. 

Miller led the Ravens with nine goals and added three assists. Ours anchored a defense that held opponents to two goals or less in 12 of 15 games. Only state champion Notre Dame scored more than two goals against the Ravens. Hillcrest allowed just nine total goals in the other 12 games. 

Goalkeeper Aiden Krabill and defender Grant Bender were both named to the second team. Jorge Canchola and John Hughes received honorable mention. 

For Highland, Owen Donavan and Ramses Vergara also received honorable mention.
