Pleasantview to host online fundraiser November 5-6

Posted

The Pleasantview Benefit has been a tradition in the Kalona community since 1956 as the community supports Pleasantview Home. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic has caused the benefit to change formats in 2020 and 2021.

Due to the recent rise in Covid-19 cases in the community the 65th Benefit will once again go virtual.

“We’re sorry that the Benefit Sale is not happening. It’s very important to us,” said Pleasantview Director of Advancement Larry Swartzendruber. “For these past two years, we haven’t been able to do it. We just feel like it is not a good time to reconvene.”

Pleasantview is holding a special time of giving to raise funds for this year’s project: wardrobes in the new 16-bed Memory Care units and six-bed Medicare Suites and furnishings in all resident rooms. Any additional net proceeds will be used for the general welfare of all Pleasantview residents.

The staff at Pleasantview hope and pray that community support for the Benefit will continue this year and that those who are able will give generous monetary gifts in lieu of auction items.

On November 5 and 6 (the original dates for the Benefit), Pleasantview will conduct a two-day fundraising blitz via their website. (This option is available before and after November 5 and 6 as well). To give online, log on to pvkalona.com, scroll to the bottom and click the yellow “donate” tab, then follow the directions. Please select “benefit sale” from the pull-down menu.

Checks can be written to Pleasantview Benefit Sale and sent to Larry Swartzendruber, Pleasantview, 811 Third St, Kalona, IA, 52247. Parties interested in donating can also call or text Larry Swartzendruber at 319-936-7563. Be sure to specify the amount of your commitment and leave your name and number.

Questions about the Benefit or how to donate can be directed to Larry Swartzendruber at 319-656-2421.
