The uncommon wail of sirens raised the curiosity of Wellman residents on the evening of Thursday, Aug. 22, when first responders arrived on the scene of an accident.
Motorcyclist Steve Etheredge, of Wellman, was traveling south on Ginkgo Avenue, near the 1100 block, when he struck a deer, causing him to be thrown from the motorcycle. According to the preliminary accident report, damage to the motorcycle was minor; however, Etheredge’s injuries necessitated transportation by AirCare to UI Health Care Medical Center.
Wellman Volunteer Fire, Ambulance, and UIHC AirCare responded to the accident, which occurred at 6:39 p.m.
