IOWA CITY
Snyder & Associates, a civil engineering firm with an office in Cedar Rapids, was selected to conduct inspection services of a natural gas pipeline extension near Hills that is in the works for MidAmerican Energy.
The extension will cover 7.1 miles in a segment that will stretch from MidAmerican’s valve station southwest of Hills to Iowa City south of Highway 1.
The Johnson County Board of Supervisors heard an update on the project at its April 30 work session.
Supervisor Rod Sullivan was among those who attended a public informational meeting recently in Hills.
The pipeline will be placed west of Highway 218.
Johnson County will be reimbursed by MidAmerican Energy for the inspection services provided by Snyder & Associates.
New Digs
The Board held its first meetings last week in its new boardroom on the third floor of the Health and Human Services building on South Dubuque Street in Iowa City.
The Board had been holding its sessions in a second floor room while a renovation of the third floor took place. Supervisor offices were in place on the third floor two months ago.
Public parking is available on the north side of the building.
Maier Ave. Bridge
The Board approved sending a planned bridge replacement project on Maier Avenue SW out to bid.
The letting date is June 3.
Board Action
The Board approved a number of amendments to the Johnson County Human Rights Ordinance.
The Board issued proclamations honoring Bicycle Month, Foster Care Month, Historic Preservation Month and Older Americans Month.
