WELLMAN
The moment called for a statement slam.
Bryce Henry, a Mid-Prairie junior guard, stole a Mount Pleasant pass and headed into an open court for maybe an easy layup? Not this time. Henry, who is just 6-foot-1, went vertical and slam dunked the ball in as cheers rolled down from the Golden Hawk bleachers.
The slam helped close out a 68-54 victory that extended Mid-Prairie’s win streak to four.
Senior point guard Brady Weber scored a game-high 18 points for the Golden Hawks and Henry scored 15.
The Golden Hawks were trailing by three points, 24-21, when a 7-point run put Mid-Prairie ahead, 28-24. Then, a 3-pointer by senior guard Ace Peck with 2 seconds left in the first half began a 13-point run that put the Golden Hawks ahead 42-26.
Henry’s slam came after that.
