Mid-Prairie delights at Pops & Pie concert

The Mid-Prairie Choir Department held their annual Pops & Pie concert on Thursday, November 10. In a traditional year, the choir department would usually host the concert in the Spring, but there’s been a change in events this school year.

The concert was switched with the annual Madrigal Dinner, which on normal occasion takes place in December. This switch needed to take place because of the saddening news of the choir director, Collette McClellen’s recent breast cancer diagnosis. Without McClellen’s fundamental support and direction, there would not be a Mid-Prairie Choir.

During the first half of the concert, over twenty soloists, duets, and groups performed a variety of songs. From a barbershop quartet to a thrilling musical theatre piece, it was clear the students have been practicing tirelessly to put on a good concert.

Between a heavy rainstorm and a brief intermission, McClellen blessed the audience with a small section of Ave Maria.

When the rest of the audience arrived for the second half of the concert, it was time for the Ladies Lyrica and Mixed Choir to perform. Ladies Lyrcia performed the songs: “I See the Light” from Tangled, “Pure Imagination” from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, “The Rising of the Moon” featuring Terra Richardson on the fiddle, and “I Will Survive”. Then the Mixed Choir performed the songs, “The Little Beggarman”, “James Bond Theme”, “Tears in Heaven”, and finished out the concert with “We’ll Rant and We’ll Roar”.
